Plum Industries is excited to announce the launch of Resonant Tapestry, a mixed genre experimental radio show for 2007 hosted by StraightUp.com.au. As the year 2006 comes to a close we would like to send a big THANKS to all of those who contributed to the show this year, formerly known as the Plum Jam Sessions. This weeks show Bruit De Fond has been prepared by Yun Mei. Thanks to Mochipet of Daly City Records for sending some of his Polka-elec-death-country craziness this way, also included is a Mochipet remix of a Otto Von Schirach track called Earjuice. Featured in the mix are a couple of tracks from Australian electronic music pioneer Steve Law . Steve is the creator of renowned live techno act, Zen Paradox that came into existence back in 1992. The track Re-entry is from the latest Zen Paradox album called Numinosum (Electronic Emotional Music). Included also are two tracks by Once11 , When The Dance Is The Game, The Food Crisis Came and Blind Mice, from the album Smile Hunter, yet another sensational release by The Agriculture records earlier this year…thanks Agri for the CD. From France we have a cool track by Impset called Quintoline 2, available for download from http://www.myspace.com/impset. This weeks show Sound Canvas has been prepared by Yun Mei. This collection of music is the sound track to my minds movie. The music conjures up whole scenes in my mind painting a crazy sound canvas. Favorites include a number of releases from John Zorn’s record label Tzadik such as Before The Law by Badawi; Hex Kitchen by Ikue Mori; Death Ambient by Death Ambient (Kato Hideki / Ikue Mori / Fred Frith); and in particular Nani Nani by Zorn & Yamataka Eye. Contained in the mix are three new releases. Millionnaire, a fun minimal techno track by Belgian producer Ember from his Minimalicious EP. All tracks on this release are licensed under Creative Commons and are available for download from netlabel Italo Business. Improvisacao 95 by Menagerie is a track from their self-titled album. The whole album is available for download from the Al Reves site. Al Reves is a musical project for independent artists, creating new perceptions on what is understood as music. This months show featured fresh and yet to be released tracks from local artists Pickle, Loophole and Spiral Soundsystem. Plus a special preview of live DJ Bailey action from Nottingham, UK, to get us all amped-up for his show at Soho on Friday 21st of April, presented by Mane Stage. A relaxed show this evening to calm the nerves of all those living in Tropical North Queensland. Cyclone Larry hit our coastline Monday and left Innisfail and parts of the Tablelands in a terrible mess. Our best wishes go out to all those affected by the cyclone and a big thanks to all the people working very hard to get everything back and running. Having no power for three days was bad enough but there are many in much worse circumstances - our thoughts are with you. My pre-cyclone soundtrack selection was Boolean Logic by artist QPE (Quiet Personal Electronics aka Kacy Wiggins)..heavy atmosphere, the calm before the storm. Actually, it could have been the last bit of music I would have heard considering a tree fell down beside the house and could have crushed me in my sleep….peace Kacy. Thanks to all those lovely people who enquired about our well-being post-cyclone. All is well now and Yun Mei will be DJing tomorrow night at Sonic @ GreenAnt Cantina along with other local electronic music producers.
